REVIEW - LOVE ACROSS THE POND Duet by Tina Gallagher

Love Across the Pond is a duet with unrelated characters, bound only by the death of a close family member and taking a trip they should have taken together.

Broken Down in Ballyclare

Ruby was wandering her grandmother's home exhausted after the memorial service and having her grandmom's friends drink her under the table celebrating their friend.

How she wished she hadn't spent the past years traveling the country for her job and spent more time with her last family member. A job she was more committed to as she was fired a month ago.

She had her future planned and for what? She had no job and now her grandmother was gone. In the first impulsive move of her life, she packed her suitcase and took the first flight to Ireland. A trip she had been planning with her grandmother but she put her job before the woman who raised her.

But there was a reason that Ruby always had a plan because now she is walking into a local pub soaking wet and covered in mud. She was just getting used to driving on the other side of the road when making a turn in the pouring rain and swerving to avoid a flock of sheep. The next thing she knew she drove through a fence and was careening down a hill luckily for her hitting the tree from the rear. Not so good for her rental... although Wow! the man the bartender called to help her out was worth it.

Loving London

It had been a year since her mother died and she was sitting with her aunt at her mother's favorite ice cream parlor in her honor. Her aunt grabbed her hand and told her that she had made a promise to her mom that London would take the trip they weren't able to take due to her cancer.

She looked at her aunt in shock when she told her to pack her bags. In two days she was leaving for a three-month trip to England and not to worry because she wouldn't be there alone. Her mother's friend from England would be hosting her and showing her the sites.

Only when she landed it was Sharon's son, Bas, who was there to pick her up. She hadn't seen him in a decade, but didn't remember him being so gorgeous.

I loved both of these stories. They are well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Ruby's impulsive trip starts out rocky but when her impulse leaves her with no transportation or place to stay she finds herself surrounded by a huge family willing to help her with all her needs. The more time London explores with Bas as her guide the harder it is to return to the States when her three-months trip comes to an end.

Both of these stories are full of action and steamy hot. I love the family interactions and how both are welcomed into a strange country. Having read both books together the only thing I noticed was a few déjà vu moments that were word for word from the previous book, but I totally loved both stories. I'm not sure if the secondary characters from each story have their own stories, but it would be nice if they do. Highly recommend.
