***Synopsis***

Addington Ranch is a family-owned cattle farm and horse ranch. Each story in the series is about a member of the family finding their happily ever after. But not without a little heartache and pining of course.

What is the sub-genre and trope? Did your characters lead you to this genre or was that decided before the story began?

Cowboy Romance

And the characters totally called the shots on this one. Ranger’s cover photo actually came before Shadow was written and well, the rest came from together from there.

Are you more character or plot driven?

A mix of both, I think.

With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?

I have a spreadsheet where I make important notes. I try really hard to stay focused on one set of characters at a time, not that they all agree with that.

I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?

Beckett and Fallon. Both of them have surprised me at every turn. They’ve been my hardest couple to write and it’s taken on so many twists and turns! I actually had to hire someone to coach me through plotting because I thought I was losing my whole mind.

Are any of the male POVs based on anyone you know?

There’s a piece of someone I know in all of my characters. My heroes always seem to favor my husband in one way or another.

Are any of the female POVs based on anyone you know?

Always.

Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?

Yes. Kevin and what ended up being Fallon’s heartbreak.

What is your favorite book in the series?

Ranger. Hands down.

I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?

All time favorite? Smitty - from my Too Hot to Handle Series. Don’t tell the others.

Series question - Who is your favorite couple and why did you decide on their dynamics?

Fallon and Beckett. Their story unfolded pretty clearly from the beginning. At least the main points. I knew they’d end up together even though… there was a lot standing in their way.

How do you get inside these characters’ heads to find their perfect HEA?

Honestly? I think by only loosely plotting and really letting them take the reigns (pun intended) is what allows me to pull together their perfect HEA.

What scene in this book/series sticks out the most for you? Why?

Mmm. I could tell you but it might spoil it.

Series - Were any of the books harder to write than others?

Ranger was the hardest to write because it’s both heavy and hopeful. But man has it pulled on my heart for …man, probably two years?

This question is if you write in MULTIPLE POVs not just the hero and heroine - I love the multiple POVs in a book. It’s not just the hero and heroine, but we get inside the heads of multiple characters throughout this series. I feel that it gives the story further depth. Do you think you will write another book or series following this multiple POV outline?

I don’t typically write like this but originally there was meant to be a little bit of this in Ranger… One day, I might actually do it.

How long did it take you to write this book/series?

Shadow didn’t take long at all, it came together pretty easily.

Ranger on the other hand, readers have been waiting at least two years for this story. I’m sure some gave up hope but I couldn’t do it halfway. I needed to get it just right.

How did you come up with the title for your book and series?

For this series - each book title is actually the name of the main horse because of the bond they have with their humans. (Not paranormal romance or shifters, just simply the love of a pet/animal and that bond and how they heal.)

If you met these characters in real life would you get along?

I absolutely think we would. The women and I would probably gang up on the guys.

Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?

Ranger was supposed to be a standalone. But then, I realized there was more at play. Right now there are just two books BUT, I think there will be one or two more.

If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?

Ooooh. Uhm okay let’s see…

Alan Ritchson would be Garrett

Eliza Dushku would be Lindsey

Emmanuelle Chriqui would be Fallon

Stephan Amell would be Kevin

Liam Helmsworth for Beckett

Eric Winter for Aiden

Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?

What’s next… hm… next is a re-release of Justice for Danielle (formerly in Susan Stoker’s Operation Police and Fire World). And then I’m hopping back over to my Royals series to finish that out.

SHADOW by Aubree Valentine
Addington Ranch - Book 1

Spotlight Interview coming February 24th!

Welcome to Addington Ranch… where the cowboys steal hearts and the women tame wild stallions.

Garrett Everleigh has been waiting (and half-heartedly dreading) the day that Lindsey Addington, an heir to the Addington Ranch, returned home from chasing her horse show dreams.

Lindsey is everything the rugged, determined ranch hand has ever wanted—and everything he can't have. Especially if he wants to keep his job and the ‘family’ that chose him. The only family Garrett has.

Ten years away has taught equestrian royalty, Lindsey Addington, exactly what - and who - she wants. Far more stubborn than Garrett ever gave her credit for, Lindsey won't let his reservations - or his secrets - keep them from having the relationship they deserve.

Putting a decade of training with thousand-pound animals to good use, Lindsey turns her insight and training on Garrett and breaks down every ounce of his resolve until he breaks.

Addington Ranch - Book 2

Spotlight Interview coming February 24th!

Release Date: March 18, 2025

A war-torn soldier and heartbroken widow.

Beckett Ivan has seen things that most people cannot even begin to imagine.

He’s lost friends that were more like family, and he’s witnessed unspeakable things happen to innocent people.

With a broken spirit, he’s headed back to Indiana, where his best friend’s widow is alone.

He promised Kevin that if he made it back home, he’d see to it that she was taken care of, and that’s what he intends to do.

What he hadn’t planned on was falling in love…

Fallon Addington was mourning the greatest loss of her lifetime. While trying to help maintain the ranch her late husband loved so much.

Pregnant with their second child, she’s barely got the energy to keep it together most days—that is until Kevin's best friend, Beckett, shows up on her doorstep, insisting on giving her a hand.

A daily reminder of all Kevin was, Fallon is determined to avoid the soldier who’s taken up residence in the barn loft.

All too soon though, she begins to see past what’s on the surface and realizes that Beckett needs her more than he’s let on.

With a little help from her favorite horse, Ranger, the two are forced to work through their grief together.

They say time heals all wounds but what happens when Beckett’s time stateside is up? Is Fallon in for another heartache or does fate have different plans for the man who’s taught her how to love again?
