REVIEW - TIP THE PIANO MAN by Rosetta Diane Hoessli

Luke never thought he would be back. When he left Texas, he had no intention of ever returning. He knew if he didn't leave to follow his dream, he could die. Literally. He fought hard going off drugs and no matter how much he tried Lacy refused. He understood her need for escape, but he refused to follow her to the grave. So he divorced her and worked to leave his past behind.

Now he was a best-selling mystery writer living the playboy life. Until receiving a call from a frantic Dr. Wagner, insisting he come back to Texas to take possession of his daughter. Lacy had been brutally murdered and the five-year-old girl was in her custody until he arrived. He was only returning to Texas to bury his ex-wife and do DNA testing before claiming a child he knew he didn't have.

Lacy had called him when Piper was three months old telling him he had a daughter, but he knew what Lacy had become and refused to have someone else's child pawned off on him.

But the second he set eyes on the girl who hadn't said a word since her mother's death, he knew the DNA test was just a formality. He and Lacy may have grown up in the foster system, but Piper was the image of his mother in a photo he carried in his wallet.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Warning - this book involves human trafficking of young children so if you have triggers this may not be the book for you. This is a story straight out of Criminal Minds.

Piper has lived a life in hell in her short five years and since no one had listened to her before the death of her mother, she decided to never talk again. Why bother when no one ever listened?

This book is action-packed, full of danger and horror as Piper's story unravels. The mystery of the full corruption involved will keep you turning the pages as Luke and Lacy help bring down those who used their positions to hide their heinous crimes. Highly recommend.
