Are you more character or plot driven?
I attempt to balance both approaches, though I've found—as I mentioned in that author interview about my process—that my characters tend to grab the wheel and steer the story themselves.
With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
Instead of an electronic book bible, I like to have a folder of printed out character inspiration photos as well as working outlines, setting details, and research. I’ve even made a detective board to help me organize a book before.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?
ALL OF THEM!!! 😊
Are any of the POVs based on anyone you know?
Authors can’t share that! 😉 Every character I create is a mosaic of people I've encountered throughout my life.
I'm constantly wondering about strangers' backstories—like what motivated that woman to pay for my coffee yesterday? The rhythm of overheard conversations, the particular way someone throws back their head when laughing—these authentic details breathe life into fictional people. That's precisely why we writers must occasionally abandon our desks and venture into the world: to collect these precious human fragments.
Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
The Siege of Drogheda required a lot of research but I enjoyed it very much. I also enjoyed checking out and buying old books on Irish folktale and magic and revisiting recipes from my Great Grandma (Irish).
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
Instead of main characters which I assume are often chosen, my favorites were Étaín and her son Conor. They’re prickly on the outside but sweet as can be on the inside. It was a fabulous time writing their reactions and banter. 😊 (Guarded Time)
Series question - Who is your favorite couple and why did you decide on their dynamics?
Well, Claudia and Alex, of course, are my favorite couple. Their love transcends time and space. ❤️
Series - Were any of the books harder to write than others?
Usually, the sequels are hard for me to write. Something about book one is so freeing whereas subsequent books feel the weight of impending deadlines. But (hope I don’t jinx it, fingers crossed, knock on wood), Guarded Time (Reincarnated Souls book two) was very enjoyable to write.
How long did it take you to write this book/series?
Unfortunately, it still takes me about a year to write a book from idea finished product. This allows me to prepare, research, outline, draft, reorganize, edit, and perfect. Plus, something about the length of time allows enough real life emotions and experiences to filter in and complete a story in my experience.
How did you come up with the title for your book and series?
That is a bit of a secret and relates to the story universe as a whole.
If you met these characters in real life would you get along?
The coven ladies – definitely! The antagonist – probably not!
Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?
No, I did not know in advance that I would write this series but the characters and story universe demanded it as the only step forward.

Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?
Next, will be Ghostly Returns (Ghostly Howls book two). No teaser just yet but not only is it a sequel to Ghostly Howls but also, in a sense, Guarded Time.
