REVIEW - THE ONE I WANT by Chelle Sloan

Wes walked into his house, looking around in confusion. He hadn't expected a party, but the suitcases sitting at the door were a complete surprise.

When his wife walks up to him and hands him divorce papers, he is speechless until the rage hits him. She is walking away from him and their three children because he just got home from the press conference announcing his retirement from professional football at the end of the season.

They had discussed his retirement. Rather, they fought about his retirement because she wanted the life that a professional athlete afforded her. But to walk out and leave him to tell their children without even saying goodbye was beyond callous, and he couldn't sign the papers fast enough.

Betsy had never had an adult job. She couldn't make a choice in college and had four minor degrees. Not that any had helped since she's had tons of jobs, but she hasn't seemed good at anything. Her best friend, Whitley, needed help with her event planning business so she was grateful for the chance to be of help and hopefully find her place in the world.

Only, she found out decorating an arch with balloons was something else to add to the 'I failed majorly' list. When her neighbor's son needed someone to watch his children, she thought, 'What could go wrong?

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Wes was looking forward to the next stage in his life when his wife walked out on him and their kids. Moving back home to be near his family he finds a second-chance to happiness. He just has to convince Betsy.

This is a small town romance that will keep you turning the page. It is action-packed and highly emotional. I love how Wes' family and friends support him with unexpectedly becoming a single dad of three active kids. It is sad, funny and smoking hot. Highly recommend!
