REVIEW - EVERY OTHER NEW YEAR'S EVE by Michelle Dayton

It was New Year's Eve,1978, and Charley turned the key again and the engine still won't start. She is truly out of gas and all that she can see outside the car windows is darkness and snow.

Even with no gas, she knew the rules of being stranded in a blizzard were to stay in the vehicle and her impractical clothes weren't helping. She had dressed up for her blind date since it was New Year's Eve even though she didn't have any expectations they would hit it off.

She knew she was considered a spinster being forty-seven and unmarried, but she was determined not to settle and ignored the whispers. Besides who had time with running the family restaurant?

Her date was a disaster, but she spent hours after he left talking to the bartender. Wondering where he had been her whole life.

Paige stepped outside the wine bar. It was New Year's Eve, 2019, and she still couldn't believe how the universe seemed to always be playing the perfect song for her during her moments of celebration all her life.

But there was no one to celebrate with so she stepped into the bar that she didn't remember being on that corner when she hears the song coming throught the doors.

It is New Year's Eve, 2017, and Will was driving his future wife to the airport with a complaining brother in the back seat about how slowly he was driving, trying to make every moment count before he saw them off. When he passes the bar on the way home he decides to stop before going to an empty home.

He was sitting at the bar when a woman comes through the door and they both noticed the other couples in the bar seemed to be dressed in clothing from different eras. Had they stumbled into a theme party? And what was with the flickering of the lights whenever they mentioned anything about the date?

I so loved this book! A bar that was only there every two years, but Paige and Will realized that they were in some type of time warp and once the clock stroke midnight they were back to their lives... hers two years in the future.

This book is action-packed and full of mystery. This book is both heartbreaking as you realize the reason the bar exists, but has such a surprising twist at the end when Paige and Will break the rules and reveal details of the past. Details that have a massive impact.

Every two years they wonder if it will be the year that the other doesn't show for their New Year's date. Will wondering if showing up in her time if she would even remember him... or if it will change her future.

Highly recommend this book!
