Jabari is driving his truck down the boardwalk towards his past. A home he left ten years ago in heartbreak after coming home on leave only to find his fiance in bed with this best friend.
Now he is home because the man who made sure he wasn't arrested for nearly killing his best friend is gone. Now his heart is broken for another reason. His dad is dead. He is needed home to plan his funeral and the future of their family.
Sierra is in her car, driving to Chesapeake Heights to interview for a summer job. A job she desperately needs to save her sister. Once again, but she can't let her only family down, especially as she dropped everything and took care of Sierra when their parents died.
But when she gets to the estate, she is met by a 6-5 giant of a man telling her that she wasn't getting an interview. Who did he think he was? She had an appointment with his mother and he was not taking away her only opportunity to save her sister's life.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Jabari left his hometown in heartbreak and instead of coming home after his first tour he reinlisted. Looking at how much needs to be done around the resort he wonders if it is time to give up on their family legacy and sell. What he definitely doesn't need is a woman storming into his life like the one threatening the shoreline.
This book is action-packed and full of angst as these two strong-willed personalities clash. Highly recommend!
FREE TO FALL is book one of the CHESAPEAKE HEIGHTS series
