Bianca only wanted to spend more time with her brother, Sandro, but he was determined to keep her away from all mafia business. He was the unofficial second to the Las Vegas arm of the Outfit which is based out of Chicago.
She would have been happy celebrating her eighteenth birthday at McDonald's but he decided to throw her a party. A party full of strangers. Unknown to him she only had three friends only one who she trusted. Not the room full of classmates who were only there to get the party favors.
She is surprised to see men from the Outfit looking around the room alert for any danger. But she soon finds out that her brother isn't staying for her birthday and the men are there to watch over her. As always business comes first.
Gaetano. Off limits for more than one reason. Number 1 is he is mafia and Sandro has made it clear that she will never be involved with anyone related to the mafia. And 2, he is one of Sandro's best friends. And 3, older than her. But that doesn't mean she can't fantasize about being with him.
Gaetano didn't care if he lived or died which made him perfect for his job as a mafia soldier. He wasn't suicidal but this uninterest in life started just a few months after his twentieth birthday. Now his interest in living was going to get him killed... his best friend's best friend. Who had made it clear that he would kill anyone who even looked twice at his sister.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Bianca hated her life. All she wanted was to spend time with her brother, but he is determined to keep her safely away from the mafia. Gaetano tried his best to stay away from Bianca but when she needs his help he can't turn his back. But her nearness brings out his depraved desires even though she is unconscious from the drugs he is trying to get out of her system.
This book is action-packed and full of danger. I would give a warning for those who don't normally read dark MC romance that Gaetano is morally gray and has some depraved moments of non-consent as Bianca lies unconscious from a near overdose. This book is smoking hot as he tries to keep his distance while she is awake and trying to avoid her advances. But when she falls asleep his guard goes down. Highly recommend for those who like reading about men who are morally gray and depraved.
