***Synopsis***
Savage Hearts Syndicate is a four book, dark romantic suspense series, set in a world of hitmen, vigilantes, and organized crime.
What is the sub-genre and trope? Did your characters lead you to this genre or was that decided before the story began?
Mafia Romance / Dark Romantic Suspense
Enemies to Lovers
My characters always develop early for me (they live rent-free in my head long before I put virtual pen to paper), but no matter what subgenre or tropes I write, it will always be a romance.
Are you more character or plot driven?
Character – always character
With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
I keep an Excel sheet with the general character traits, but for the most part, they’re more real to me than people I meet on the street – I can easily visualize them.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?
I might be the director, but my characters are all improv actors. Lol
Are any of the male POVs based on anyone you know?
I wish. Unfortunately, I don’t have a hot man in my life at the moment… and I’ve never known a hitman in real life (probably a good thing)
Are any of the female POVs based on anyone you know?
Kira’s (the FMC) grandmother is a little like how I remember my own. Set in her ways, but spunky as heck.
Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
The hardest scene was the final action-based scene. I worried I had too much happening all at once. There were a few times I had to physically map out where each character was and block out their movements.
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
Kira (the FMC) is my favorite. She has a strong set of beliefs and is fiercely independent, yet, deep down, she’s got this softness about her. I love that she can literally kick ass while simultaneously feeling like she’s a failure.
How do you get inside these characters’ heads to find their perfect HEA?
I like to think I’d make a great actor… Or maybe I’m just super empathetic, because I can easily put myself in their shoes. And knowing a character’s flaws helps me identify the path they need to take to reach that HEA.
What scene in this book/series sticks out the most for you? Why?
The glass door. It’s hot. Lol
How long did it take you to write this book?
Sweet Chaos took about 8 months to write.
How did you come up with the title for your book and (if applicable) series?
I started with a vibe and then did some market research to find something I liked and worked for the genre.
If you met these characters in real life would you get along?
Definitely.
Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?
I had the whole series planned before I started book 1.
If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?
Maybe it’s cliché, but Henry Cavill is almost always how I envision my leading man. Florence Pugh would be my leading lady (but with long hair).
Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?
The next book in the series is Lovely Torment. The main characters are the siblings of our couple from Sweet Chaos.
The man I’m being forced to seduce is ruthless, dominant, and untouchable.
And he should be. He’s a hitman.
But now, he’s my mark, and I don’t have a choice—deliver Dex to the Bratva, or lose everything.
Playing seductress is nothing new, but the stakes are. Dex unexpectedly changes the rules, twisting the game, pushing me to stay one step ahead…
Then, he puts his hands on me.
Suddenly, I lose all control.
And in Dex’s arms, I realize maybe I never really had control of a damn thing to begin with.
What will remain amid the savage chaos we've created when the hunter becomes the hunted?
We're both about to find out.
