Killian is heading deep into the McBride Mountains with his brothers, Connor and Liam, to cut down the tree that Liam has tagged for his next project. They own the mountain, and their mill supplies the town and the surrounding areas with all the lumber needs.
He can feel his brother's eyes on him as they climb deep into the forest. They want him to talk to them, but he just growls at them to leave him be. He has always been the most temperamental of the brothers, but since his fiancée left him and the mountain a year ago, he has been even more miserable to be around.
When they hit the river, they divide up to try to locate the tree. Killian doesn't get far before he sees something caught in a fallen tree in the rapidly flowing river. He rushes, hoping that the person is still alive, but his broken heart shatters when he lifts her head and realizes it is his ex-fiancée, Willow, and she is unconscious and barely alive.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Prepare yourself for a book with tons twists and a mystery that takes you on a totally unexpected journey. Willow's answers also open up another mystery that is just as shocking.
His book is action-packed, full of danger, suspense and a mystery that answers not only where Willow had been for the last year. The intrigue hints that the author gives throughout the story had me doubting certain people, people that I hated to doubt. Masterfully done.
Highly recommend!
