Weston Whitaker hated London. He hated it even more when he found out he had an older brother. The Duke of Mercer.
Tristan Tierney had discovered the former duke had a bastard son when going through the estate papers. Weston had been surprised that the duke was excited to have a brother, bastard or not.
Weston may not have the same feelings, but he had traveled from Philadelphia in pursuit of funding for his steam engine prototype, and having connections with a duke helped get those funds; he was okay with that.
But then, a post in The Rake Review focuses on his nighttime activities and has business partners pulling their funds. So, he, a grown man, is being sent to a governess for etiquette instruction so the genteel society will accept him.
Except... Lady Penelope Anstruther-Colbrook is not old and ugly like he expected. Suddenly, etiquette lessons weren't so annoying after all.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Weston had known nothing but rejection in his life and wasn't looking for a relationship - not even one of a brother he hadn't known he had. He was only interested in designing steam engines until he met the lovely Penny. But Penny wasn't what he expected.
This historical romance will have you turning the pages as Weston searches for the mysterious writer for The Rake Review that has a surprising twist. Totally enjoyed Weston and Penny's story and look forward to reading more by this author. Highly recommend.
