With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
I keep a OneNote file for each book in the series where I
record details that I need to keep straight throughout, plus things like
character names and descriptions.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a
life of their own. Were any of the
characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of
where you initially wanted them to go?
For sure! Book 2, Love Me Reckless. Sawyer & Kirilee
were supposed to be book 3 but they couldn’t wait
Are any of the male or female POVs based on anyone you know?
No
Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
In every romantic suspense book I’ve written, there is
one big scene where the suspense part gets a big reveal that puts one or both
of the MCs in danger. That moment is the culmination of pages and pages of
work. Getting it right is like walking a tightrope and takes an obscene amount
of planning and effort.
What is your favorite book in the series?
Cannot answer this! I love them all. Zach from book 1 has
been in my heart the longest, so if I had to pick, it would be his and Sofie’s
book, Love Me Dangerous.
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
I do not have a favorite. I love and respect them all in
different ways.
Series question - Who is your favorite couple and why did you decide on their dynamics?
Favorite couple might be Meg & Linden in Love Me
Brazen, which is releasing in August. There was something so powerful about
their story, and how they fell for each other despite the odds.
How do you get inside these characters’ heads to find their perfect HEA?
I do an extensive background deep dive to make sure I
understand their wounds and their deepest yearnings.
What scene in this book/series sticks out the most for you? Why?
My stalker reveal and heroine in danger scene in Love Me
Fearless might be my best ever.
Series - Were any of the books harder to write than others?
Love Me Fierce was my hardest to write. It’s more of a
serial killer mystery than a romance, and that obviously wouldn’t have worked.
So I really had to weave a very unique romance into the very intense
investigation plot.
How long did it take you to write this book/series?
Each book takes me about 3 months to write
How did you come up with the title for your book and series?
A lot of research
If you met these characters in real life, would you get along?
This is such an interesting question! I honestly don’t
have an answer.
Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?
Yes, I knew there would be at least 6 books. I’ve linked
each of the MCs into each others’ books to provide that overarching sense of
found family
If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?
I love this question but I have no answer for you!
Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?
I’ll be writing another series very similar to Love Me Dangerous. The only thing I’ll give away is that it will be set in Idaho also.
