It is Valentine's Day in Boston and the last place that Aston wants to be is at a party in his friend's penthouse with other billionaires, actors and celebrities celebrating this of all celebrations. The ink on his divorce papers hasn't even had a week to fully dry, so he brought his daughter and was visiting his family to get a breather from LA.
Having his brother and friends push way too much liquor his way he needed to desperately find the restroom and to get away from their determination to set him up, telling him that is just what he needed to cheer up.
He can't even remember his last sexual encounter after finding out that his wife was having an affair. A man who she was now planning to marry. Another woman was the last thing he needed right now.
He finally found an unoccupied room and, without turning on the lights, headed for the ensuite. It wasn't until he opened the door that he noticed it was occupied, but just as he heard a gasp and was closing the door with an apology... all the lights went out. You could hear the women throughout the party scream and Micah yelling for everyone to not move and calm down. He would check to see why the power was out.
The woman was now redressed and he could smell her scent getting closer as he assured her he hadn't seen anything before the lights went out. She had been trying to get the red cocktail spilled on her out of her dress and hair when he opened the bathroom door.
The next thing he knew that were kissing passionately and he was starting to unzip her dress when the lights came back on. They both opened their eyes in shock and horror.
He knew that face. Had seen it hundreds of times. He had been kissing none other than his best friend's baby sister. With his friend on the other side of the wall.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Wow! Talk about an enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance. Two years after their encounter, Aston is back in Boston permanently. After the death of his ex-wife, he needed help with his five-year-old daughter and she needed family and stability.
And despite his wishes, he never got over that kiss two years ago with Skylar. Despite them never having gotten along over the years, he can't get that kiss out of his mind.
This book is action-packed and full of angst and spice. I love the full range of extended secondary characters from friends and families of both Aston and Skylar. They couldn't avoid each other if they tried, as he was close friends with her brother and several of her cousins. On top of that he was the new head surgeon at the children's hospital were she nursed in the MICU.
This book is full of twists and surprises that will have you turning the pages. If you like spicy rom-coms with a bit of danger and suspense thrown in, you will love this book! Highly recommend!
The Forever Boston series is a second generation from several other interconnecting series and I look forward to catching up on all the secondary characters' stories.
