Coming back to her hometown to settle her grandmother’s estate, Amelia was undecided if she wanted to return for good or not. So she decided to sign up to be a nanny over the holiday season.
She never expected the man who answered the door to be the man who had broken her heart eighteen years ago. She definitely didn’t expect to fall in love with is two young children.
Carter had broken her heart when the were eighteen when he disappeared from her life with no explanation. Now the professional hockey player is on the injured list, widowed and has and eight and ten year old children.
Amelia almost turned around until she saw them behind him when he opened the door of the beautiful mansion.
I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. You will fall in love with Carter’s children, Nicky and Justine.
This is a second-chance rom-com. Amelia can tell that Carter isn’t the same boy that broke her heart, but is that enough to give him a second chance? Would he include her in decisions that involve her in the future or take those choices away as he had in the past?
This is a slow-burn, closed door romance. Carter wants a second chance, but he also wants his children to know that their mother wasn’t a replacement for the lose of Amelia when he was younger and that Amelia isn’t going to replace their mother now that she is dead.
I loved how this story handles grief after the loss of a parent, spouse and moving on with your life, but not forgetting the woman that they lost. Highly recommend.
