Bruno is enraged and starts killing his men who allowed Nicole to avoid capture… again… and had somehow crossed the border into the Texas. His men had been covering the Mexico/Texas border and every exit to the building and she managed to escape with the boy.
She had managed to get out a live video hysterically begging for help to escape the cartel who threatened the life of the child she was determined to get safely into the custody of the US military. How had his men once again failed him?
It was time to activate his sleepers. The US military didn’t know what was about to hit them.
A war correspondent, Nicole had overheard a conversation between cartel members about auctioning off the baby to the highest bidder. Whomever had the child would be the most powerful of the cartels in Mexico. Bruno was determined that he be the winner and finally prove to his powerful overbearing mother that he was finally able to lead the family.
Paul’s undercover mission that lasted ten years before his persona ‘died’ is coming back to haunt him with life-altering implications.
I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book starts immediately where book one leaves you with two massive cliffhangers. Luckily, I was able to begin book two immediately so it wasn’t as painful as if could have been lol. Shadows, a safe house hidden in the mountains, that was home to three special op teams and their family.
This spicy hot romantic suspense thriller is action-packed and full of danger as Mexican cartels war between themselves and a special ops team uses the cartels against each other while trying to save a baby’s life.
This book is highly emotional and has all the feels. There is betrayal and misunderstands, a determined war correspondent, a cartel boss blinded by obsession, traitors, an innocent pawn, human trafficking, just to name a few in this special ops mission.
There are a ton of characters in this book, both good and bad. Unfortunately, someone dies and it hits the whole Shadows family hard and makes them aware that the cartels are closer than they thought.
I love the closeness of these men and woman and JL Drake will keep you turning the pages in this gripping story. Highly recommend!
