Kayden was in high school when he came out to his family. When they realized that trying to set him up with the friend's daughter wasn't going to change it their verbal abuse began. It got so bad that he finally left California and moved to Texas with his sister Maddie and best friend Ashley as soon as he graduated.
He gets a call from his upset sister early in the morning telling him to get to the hospital. His nephew is with her but her fiance is missing. He found her beaten and abused and was furious when she told him that it had been going on for years.
Elliot's sister Christine died and left him guardian of her two children and noticed that Aliece's best friend Noah's mother wasn't at school drop-off instead there was a gorgeous man whom Noah introduced as his uncle Kayden, a firefighter.
Elliot was a police officer and a regular volunteer at the hospital and was surprised with it being a small town they hadn't run into each other before. He would have definitely remembered.
I really liked this book. This is an MM romance and not my usual type of reading but it is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Warning this book may have several triggers relating to physical abuse and stalking.
This book is action-packed and full of danger and intrigue. I really love how the authors in this series have pulled all the characters together in the small town of Piper Falls, Texas. Can't wait to read the final book in the series.
