REVIEW - SCARLET PEACOCK by LD Wosar

Lucia Faust wants nothing to do with the fabric swatches in front of her. She could care less about fashion and even less about the Fair Maiden Proffer and the reason why her mother had forced her to this boutique.

The Fair Maiden Proffer where bachelors of high standing bid for a wife. She was the daughter of a poor farmer and wasn't sure how she received an invite, but she wanted to marry for love not be auctioned off like cattle.

Lord Duncan Busick was commanded by Countess Yvette Cote to attend the Fair Maiden Proffer and bid on Lucia Faust as wife. The last thing that Duncan wanted was a wife, but the Countess was determined and told him to win her or she will draw up his execution papers.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book does not have a HEA and leaves you with a cliffhanger that takes this story in an unexpected direction.

Unbeknownst to Lucia she was the unwanted child of a King and his Queen's Lady-in-Waiting. Not being allowed to raise the baby as her own the Queen sent her away until she would return at eighteen to take her place as the future Queen Peacock.

But Scarlet's birth mother had made her own plans. She wanted her daughter to be the first Witch-Vampire hybrid and she made a deal with the vampire Countess promising her supreme power if she turned her into a vampire.

This book is action-packed and will have you turning the pages. It is a historical paranormal fantasy revolving around vampires and witches. Lucia goes from a poor farmer's daughter to marrying a vampire Duke only to find out she is a future queen. But some want her dead forcing Duncan to break an oath.

Highly recommend.
