Freya is sitting in the dark with only the glow of her laptop lighting the shadows. Her headphones blocking out the rest of the world, she keeps digging for the financial records Kir is looking for.
She wasn't told why he needed records for a company that no longer existed, but when she started digging and realized they were probably on the servers of a company that was the front for the Grigorov Bratva, she felt her adrenaline start pumping with excitement.
Until she realizes that the files are on a computer not connected to the server. As she is trying to work through this roadblock, she hears voices and shuts her laptop and ducks underneath the desk.
With the four Russians is a man with an English accent and before she can grasp what is going on the man has reached into his coat and four men are dead. From a sword. Then he turns on the computer at the hotel's reception desk and starts typing.
When she realizes he has seen her, she bolts for the window for the fire escape. But there is no escaping.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Well, kind of, since Mal is a pure psycho lol.
This is a very dark romance with a damaged MMC out for vengeance. This book is full of Bratva and Yakuza violence and sizzling hot. Jagger Cole never disappoints. Highly recommend.
