Alex's world was shaken when his grandmother was hospitalized because of complications of a misdiagnosis that was almost not caught in time. Simple indicators that had been overlooked. Their misdiagnosis had almost become deadly.
He was at Harvard at the time, working towards his PhD in biomedical engineering and he was determined to find a solution that pulled not only the symptoms but the patient's previous medical history to flag things that medical providers often missed or totally misdiagnosed.
Alex and his college friend, Marcus, brainstormed a way to use AI technology that bridged that gap.
I really enjoyed this story. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is not my typical romance review, and although Alex had some relationship issues throughout the story, it follows his journey to build an algorithm to assist in a doctor's diagnosis.
It takes you through his years of building a startup and getting FDA approval and doctors who were skeptical of using an unknown technology.
This is an emotional journey for Alex as he achieves his goal and then learns that the best things in life are letting go.
