The time is finally here.
It has been eight long years, but Issylte, the Emerald Princess, is no longer the little girl that her stepmother, the evil Black Widow Queen, tried to have killed. Issylte is now a healer and has been given powers of protection in order to defeat Queen Morag and take her rightful place as the Emerald Queen.
Both her champions, Tristan and Lancelot vowed to build her an army and now Queen Morag will pay for her traitorous acts. She has killed everyone who Issylte held dear and the evil Queen is determined to also kill Issylte, her husband Tristan and Tristan's uncle in order to be the ruler of Ireland, Cornwall and Lyonesse and expand the slave trade and her other nefarious deeds.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This trilogy really needs to be read in order for the full depth of this epic story, but Jennifer Ivy Walker has given such in-depth descriptions in this book that you are able to read it as a standalone and not miss out of the trilogy plot.
Both Tristan and Issylte have been gifted powers of protection and knowledge on how to defeat Lord Voldurk and the Black Widow Queen. But, it's not a straight path as many are determined to gain the favor of the Black Widow Queen and help her destroy everything in the way of her gaining full power.
This book is action-packed and full of danger and suspense. How this author keeps all these working parts together amazes me. This trilogy is told in multiple POVs (both good and evil) and tons of secondary characters, but instead of being overwhelming, everything meshes into an epic story.
We have shapeshifting wolves and bears, ravens, fairies, forest creatures, sea nymphs, elves, evil dwarves, sorcery, protective spells, and The Tribe of Dana...think of a medieval Outlander with fairies and other otherworldly creatures and mystical powers with the enchantment of Harry Potter.
This is truly a smoking-hot fantasy of epic proportions. Highly recommend!
