What is the sub-genre and trope?
Dark, forbidden romance
Did your characters lead you to this genre or was that decided before the story began?
My characters are the driving force behind every word written and all my lovely sleepless nights.
Are you more character or plot-driven?
Character
With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind?
I take the snippets each character reveals and put them in my notepad, then as I’m writing I build onto the scene, conversation, quote, whatever it is I could shake.
Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
I don’t have a storyboard, but I have an overabundance of filled notebooks.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?
Oh yeah, I have no control. I go in one direction and BAM, something completely unexpected happens.
Are any of the male POVs based on anyone you know?
I hope not!
Are any of the female POVs based on anyone you know?
Lol, yes.
Shh... it’s top secret though.
Was there anyone character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
For this book, both characters were heartbreaking in their own way, but there are a few scenes that absolutely wrecked me while I was writing.
What is your favorite book in the series?
My Soul to Break as it’s releasing soon, but hold your hats, ladies and gents, book two has been an emotional roller coaster for me as I write it.
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
Georgie, she’s sassy and strong.
Everything that gets thrown at her she takes in stride and gives it back just as hard.
I love a strong FMC.
Series question - Who is your favorite couple and why did you decide on their dynamics?
Georgie and Hayes, because they spoke the loudest, love the strongest, and fight the hardest.
How do you get inside these character’s heads to find their perfect HEA?
They gave me the happily ever after first, and then got inside my head and showed me the pain and heartbreak to get there.
What scene in this book/series sticks out the most for you?
The masquerade, duh!
Why?
It’s the beginning of the end.
Series - Were any of the books harder to write than others?
My Soul to Break has been incredibly difficult to write.
How long did it take you to write this book/series?
Awhile.
I was nearly finished when I lost my mom to covid last December and it put a pin in my progression with writing and releasing.
How did you come up with the title for your book and (if applicable) series?
A really sweet author friend actually came up with the title for me after I went through more than a dozen.
If you met these characters in real life would you get along?
Absolutely.
Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?
I knew from the very beginning this would be a series.
If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?
Asking the hard questions, I see. Umm…
Maybe Danielle Campbell & Greg Sulkin for the main characters.
Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series?
Book two, My Soul to Take, obvs. Lol
Can you share a small tease?
I think I can manage a small tease.
“You don’t want him, but you crave him like a sick addiction!”
“I don’t want him, but I crave him. He’s my sick addiction for which there is no rehab.”

heartbreaking loss.
This is not for the faint of heart; it has graphic sex and a plethora of expletives.

Choices are made and the consequences are dire, one mask in the night holds pain, heartbreak, and the other dangerous desire. Can I survive or does this end with my soul to take?
