Ryan is in Las Vegas with her best friend and a few of her boyfriend's teammates who are celebrating winning the Stanley Cup. But, Ryan is getting drunk. She is happy for her friend, but it is killing her seeing her and her boyfriend Collin so in love.
Ryan on the other hand just lost her job at the salon because of downsizing and the fees for her grandmother's assisted living had just gone up. And just a few hours before arriving at the airport her boyfriend calls to let her know he is having a baby...and Ryan isn't the one pregnant.
Just as she has finally downed enough liquor to forget her problems Rhodes throws her over his shoulder and tells her she's had enough. Rhodes, Collin's grumpy teammate. Gorgeous, beautiful Rhodes the a$$hole.
Deciding that she needed some food before dumping her in her hotel room, Rhodes takes her to a nearby diner where Ryan decides the greasy fries are enough reason to stop fighting. Tired of the uncomfortable silence she asks him why he's always so sad and he tells her his girlfriend just left him, but he was sure she would be back...she always came back.
When Ryan asks for her name she hits Instagram and finds out that she got engaged two days before to one of Rhodes former teammates. Now instead of getting rid of Ryan he wants to get a drink and dance. Only one drink leads to way too many and you know what happens when you're drunk in Vegas. You wake up with a wedding band on your hand.
I loved this! It is very well written and the characters are amazing! This modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast will keep you laughing. Ryan is a beauty influencer with a huge Instagram and YouTube following with her makeup tutorials, but her real love is photography, but she puts her dreams aside to help the grandmother who raised her.
Rhodes used to be a confident man until a hockey accident which left him with a scar down his face. Now he is a damaged man who feels that all people see is his scar. One of my favorite parts of this story is Rhodes opening up to Ryan (not only because it is beyond smoking hot) showing her all his layers.
I love his teammates with all their fooling around and teasing and Ryan's grandmother is a hoot! Highly recommend this book!!!
