REVIEW - THE BULLY by Willa Nash

Cal is watching ESPN impatiently because until they report it he couldn't believe what he had done.  Had he really retired?  Had he made the right decision?  He had just won his second Super Bowl and he decided to retire as a winner before age or injury took away his quarterback career.  But what was he going to do now?

His best friend Pierce, who was really his only friend, kept after him to move to Calamity, Montana.  Since he had no intention of staying in Tennessee and definitely wasn't returning home to Denver, he decided why not?  Except Pierce has also asked his nemesis to move there.

He has only been in Calamity for five minutes before he sees Nellie.  Who, by the shock on her face, had no idea he was coming.  And now Pierce's wife's water just broke and they needed them to watch Elias while he rushed her to the hospital.

When Pierce decided to open a satellite office in Calamity, he asked Nellie if she would consider moving.  She was so happy she did.  She loved the small-town feel and it definitely wasn't big enough for both her AND Cal!  Cal has been a thorn in her side since they all attended high school twenty years ago.  The prestigious high school only gave two scholarships each year and the rich, entitled kids made her life miserable and Cal led the pack.

The last thing she needed was for Cal to co-babysit Elias with her, but there was no way to gracefully say no as Elias loved his Unka Cal.  What she didn't realize was that when Cal moved some boxes to her home office, he came across her freshman high school diary.  A better man would have left it alone.  A better man wouldn't have slipped it in his pocket to read later.

I so loved this book!!!  It is very well written and the characters are all relatable.  You fall in love with everyone, even the secondary characters.  Cal was known for his temper and foul mouth on and off the field, he was a reporters dream...which made him angrier.  He was a jerk and he owned it.  I especially love his conversations with Harry.  That is one tough lady.

I laughed and I cried.  You could feel Cal's desperation every time he asked Nellie the question "Tell me what you hate about me?"  His obsession with her diary is hilarious!

This book is action-packed and smoking hot!  I highly recommend it.  This is the first time I've read anything by Willa Nash and I look forward to reading the first three books in this series!
