Sydney is standing on the beach looking down at her toes as she tries to work through the grief of losing her father. The next thing she knows she is flat on her rear as a man runs into her. After she tells him off for running her over, she gasps at the gorgeous mountain of a man before her.
Sydney had just lost her father to Parkinson's Disease and is now alone. Her mother passed away when she was thirteen and the only thing she has left is her beloved golden retriever, Champ. And now she finds out that her father left her his beloved boxing club, Youngblood. She is beyond shocked.
She always felt like a disappointment to her father since he wanted a son who he could shape into a boxer like him. Not only wasn't she the son he wished for, she hated boxing. She didn't understand how her mother handled seeing her dad all beat up and bruised. No matter how many titles he held.
Dean had taken his last money and moved to San Diego. New Jersey had gotten stifling and he wanted a fresh start to boost his boxing career. And Bruce Young is just the person he needs to train with. His gramps had been friends with Bruce and he had grown up watching the champ box.
Dean arrives at Youngblood's boxing club to find out not only had Bruce Young died, but the gorgeous woman he ran into because of the deep fog was his daughter and the new owner of the club. He prayed that she would give Dean "The Bullet" a chance to prove himself as a boxer and as a lover.
I absolutely loved this book! This is the first time I have read anything by Sumi Singh and I was totally entranced with Dean and Sydney's story. This action-packed story takes you into the world of championship boxing, Dean's determination for a title, and Sydney finding her place in her father's world.
You get it all with this book. Grief, pain, smoking hot sex, and excitement. You can feel Dean's pain throughout his fights. You fall in love with all the characters - especially Coach Johnson.
I highly recommend this book!
