A half bottle of Tequila is on the coffee table, salt is everywhere and lime wedges are scattered at his feet as he is doing Tequila shots over the girl's chest. But Hayes Farrow just isn't feeling it and when his agent Ruben puts his head in the dressing room door he isn't sad to see her leave.
When Ruben tells him that his grandmother fell and broke her hip and suggests that he return home for a visit it couldn't have happened at a better time. He was burned out after a year-long world tour. When he picks up the Tequila he notices that it is lower than it should be and he again thinks his assistant Matt is stealing from him since things keep disappearing and tells Ruben to fire him.
Hattie Rowley only had one semester left from getting her Master's and she failed all her courses. Her world had fallen apart when her sister Cassidy died and no matter how much she had tried to come home to help her siblings they kept telling her she needed to finish school.
Since Matt had just returned from tour she was hoping to spend time and rekindle their love and try to keep her failure from Ryland and Aubree. Only she arrives at Matt's apartment only for him to greet her at the door telling her she isn't fun anymore and she needs to gather her belongings. She can't believe that he expected her to be having fun after her sister just died from breast cancer.
And then as she is packing her stuff she finds his stash... a sash of things he stole from his boss, Hayes Farrow... she grabs Haye's belongings along with her own because she is so getting Matt fired. Even if she has to approach her brother's sworn enemy to do so.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Hattie doesn't understand why her sister didn't leave her anything in her will. Her brother got custody of their niece and Aubree inherited both the farm and the store that Hattie had helped Cassie build. Even her brother's sworn enemy received a letter from Cassidy. Her world was falling apart and all anyone could tell her was to finish school.
Hayes may have been a famous singer, but he never felt good enough as both his mother and father had deserted him and if his grandmother hadn't stepped up he doesn't know where he would have ended up. Even his best friend left believing lies instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt. So when he sees Hattie leaving a box on his porch he decides to have a bit of fun.
This book is action-packed, smoking hot and will keep laughing as you turn the pages as Hattie and Hayes try to keep out of the prying eyes of the small-town gossips. Highly recommend!
