Connie was racing home after being halfway through a pedicure. After waking late and rushing to run her errands she forgot to do what she had promised her fiance Nate. Again. Nate worked the swing shift at the steel plant and he came home with his clothes covered in motor oil, sweat and metal shavings.
She hated the smell so much he changed his clothes in the basement and the clothes even had their own basket. All he asked was that he had clean clothes for work. So here she was racing home to get in a small load before he woke up and needed to leave for work. Except now there are blue lights flashing in her rearview mirror. Darn...
Luckily, the neighbor's lawnmower woke him up since Connie hadn't thrown his work clothes in the dryer. For the last six months she hadn't been holding up her part of their relationship. He didn't know what was going on with her, she was slacking off helping around the house and taking care of the few things he asks for himself and refused to pick a wedding date.
They've been engaged for two years and their friends and parents have been badgering them, but she tells them she's too busy to plan a wedding. Besides not holding up her part of maintaining their home, she ignores him or is outright rude to him. He is tired of trying to get her to talk to him to find out what is wrong.
When Connie finally makes it home and doesn't even attempt to apologize he tells her that he is going out with his brother after work. He needs advice before ending his relationship. Then his brother gives him some eye-opening advice saying that he and his wife have a domestic discipline relationship. What do they have to lose?
I found this book to be very well written and the characters were fully developed. Truthfully, I wanted to go through the pages and smack Connie myself. She is a selfish brat that didn't care how her actions affected others. She not only abused her relationship with her fiance, but she wasn't any nicer to her best friends. Nate is a saint for putting up with her.
I really enjoyed the storyline, but Connie's continued bi+chyness was grating to me, but despite that, I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more by Tabitha Marks. If you have an issue with spankings then this book is not for you.
