Dash can't believe his eyes. Every palm tree is lit with red and green Christmas lights and every storefront looks like Kris Kringle puked. He thought that Candy Cane Key was just the name of the town, but even the university was named North Pole University with a Polar Bear mascot. If it wasn't for their excellent football program that his son Jameson was accepted into he would turn the car around a hightail it out of there.
He thought that their hometown of Christmas, Texas was bad. Candy Cane Key was Christmas on steroids and as they are waiting for his son's dorm assigns he hears an obnoxiously loud and snorting laugh and his son elbows him in the ribs telling him to be nice.
Summer works for the NPU and it is her job to welcome all the students and parents and help them with everything they need at the university and in town. She noticed the tall muscular brooding man the second he stepped on campus, but then she realized he was the father of their new Quarterback. The one thing she refused to do was get involved with a parent because this was just a stepping stone in the career of the students and they never stayed around.
I loved this book. It is a short read but is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Dash is very cynical about romance. All anyone ever wanted from him were his good looks and status. Love was a fantasy. Summer is a ray of sunshine despite her overbearing mother who was determined to get Summer married to a man of status.
This may be a short novella, but it is action-packed and will keep you laughing. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by Carolina Jax.
