Nathan Cove hated weddings. All they were were small talk which he didn't understand and had no inclination in doing. If it wasn't for the fact that one of his oldest friends was the groom, he wouldn't be here at all.
He especially didn't want to be here because he needed to be back home preparing for the bomb getting ready to explode. He was CEO of Astro and since he took it public the board of directors has been trying to get rid of him. He couldn't have anything put him in a worse light with the board right now. They already thought he shouldn't be able to play as hard as he worked. They were more interested in image than the numbers he was projecting.
He needed his PR agent Gretel to put a stop to the press release going out tomorrow morning. He was caught talking to Audrey a married woman innocently but made to look like something illicit. He couldn't disclose the reason for meeting his long-time friend.
Mark Aspern, Audrey's husband, and he have been friends since college. Nathan's parents treat him like another son. But Mark is the subject of an active police investigation and Audrey needs help. Nathan wasn't willing to sacrifice everything he had again for Mark.
Gretel said his only option was to get ahead of the story. Give an interview into all aspects of his life. Show that he wasn't the playboy the press made him out to be and he was serious about his company.
Madison Shore was a freelance journalist. She was so lucky to have caught a temp position at The Post when one of the journalists went on maternity leave. Now she just had to prove her worth so she would be considered when a permanent position came available.
She so hated weddings - especially when she only knew the bride and groom. When she took her seat at the reception dinner, she noted the name cards of who would be sitting next to her. She was hoping the conversation would be interesting because she was bored to tears, but her best friend was getting married so she had to be here.
She bet that the man named Nathan Cove who would be seated next to her had no idea he had the same name as the man who sold his company for like a trillion pounds and was partying his way through London. She, unfortunately, knew more than she ever wanted about the subject from her mom the famous gossip columnist. And since she lived at home until she could get a permanent position she hears a lot.
Madison feels her sleeve tearing as the chair next to her is pulled back. Her sleeve is caught in the chair and as she tries to untangle herself the man moves too close to her, blocking her from seeing how she is caught. And then he tells her that she might not want everyone seeing her knickers that she had on display in her bent position. To her further embarrassment, when she manages to release her sleeve her long auburn hair gets tangled in the chair. Needing his help getting it untangled. Can this day get any more embarrassing?
When she is finally able to stand up and thank the man she sees a huge gorgeous man. A man who had long dark lashes women around the world would die for. They get along so well at dinner that they decide to make it a night to remember.
When Madison arrives that The Post the following Monday she is told that she was being sent on a special assignment. Imagine her shock when she arrives at the offices of none other than Nathan Cove. The man who she shared a night of passion and had been unable to get out of her mind. A man she needs to shed a good light on after the article posted about him. The article that was written by her mother.
I loved this book. It is very well written and all of the characters are fully developed and relatable. I love Madison! She is not only quirky, but she is so funny. She is determined to show the world the real Nathan. Even if the truth hurts.
I love how Nathan is a gorgeous powerful man, but the writer shows his insecurities. He is CEO of a company he built from the ground up but doesn't think he measures up in his parent's eyes. Both of his parents and his four brothers are doctors. A career he had always meant to follow until he put someone else's needs before his own.
This book is action-packed and I couldn't put it down. Both Nathan and Madison have secrets. What will happen when they come to light? The chemistry between Nathan and Madison is evident from the second they met and continued throughout the book. This book is highly erotic and smoking hot. Highly recommend this book and so looking forward to what the other Cove brothers have coming in their futures.
