REVIEW - RIVER OF SHADOWS by Karina Halle

All Hanna could see outside the airplane window was ice and snow.  No city and no runway.  Luckily, no one was beside her as she was going into full panic mode between grief and traveling alone to the remote part of Finland.

She hasn't seen her father as much as she wished since her mother took her to California when she was six.  She was only allowed minimal visits until her father had threatened to go for full custody.  And now it was too late.

Five years ago her father had built a wilderness hotel in the northern most parts of Finland.  A retreat of cabins within the woods or by the lake.  She was told that he had gotten disoriented walking in the woods and he was found the next day frozen to death.

Realizing she was hungry, Hanna left her room looking for food.  Peeking in doors she accidently found the room with her father's coffin.  Lifting the lid to say her final goodbyes she is shocked.  The coffin is empty.  Where is her father's body?  And then a man, Rasmus, appears from nowhere telling her to leave before it is too late.

I loved this book based loosely on Finnish mythology!  It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable.  Karina Halle drew me immediately into this fantasy romance.  It takes many twists and turns where you meet a variety of otherworldly beings.

Hanna faces danger and a sensual journey with Death.  This book is action-packed, full of danger and suspense and smoking hot.  There is a major cliffhanger that left me telling her "NO, don't do it!"  I can't wait to see what happens next in this amazing story!

If you read fantasy romance you will absolutely love this story!  Highly recommend!
