Natya had left home 2 years before after her human parents told her she wasn't their child. They had found her in the arms of an archangel who had died in the Shaking and brought the baby angel home and raised her as their own.
An angel...one of the monsters who hated the humans. She always wondered how much human she had since she had no wings or powers until she fell out of the tower of Heaven's Window and was plunging to her death as Devton the daimon was too injured to fly and save her.
But then she was flying as she felt her wings pop and expand.
What an amazing conclusion to this story. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Natya had thought she was a human until her parents gave her the unwelcome news that she was in fact an angel. So she moved out living on the streets until she ran into Ryker, the Fae that saved her life. When he asked her to marry him she was ecstatic even with the issues they had to overcome being of mixed races.
But then Ryker killed himself. The more that Natya searched for answers about why he would kill himself two days before their wedding trip, the more she found out that everything he had told her had been a lie and all she wanted to do was die herself.
This is book two of the Clepsydra Society duet and it is action-packed from word one. This is not a standalone novel...you have to read book one first!
If you love fantasy you will love this series! Everyone is after the White Crystal, but all for very different reasons...the angels wanted to return to heaven...the daimons wanted to open the netherworld and possess humans...humans just wanted all magic gone.
This book is full of suspense, intrigue and danger not only from everyone going after the White Crystal but from each race hating the other and wanting to gain control. There is betrayal and smoking hot chemistry.
Highly recommend this duet! I was immediately drawn into their world and didn't want to leave once I started.
