REVIEW - LAST WISH MOTEL by Alicia Hunter Pace

Reese Soublet LeBlanc was painting LSU's mascot on a casket when Cecile popped in.

Cecile was one of a long line of Soublet women... and she happened to have died ninety years ago. But three months ago, the spirits of her female ancestors have been popping up and interfering with her life.

Her family has been burying the dead for hundreds of years in the Louisiana bayou. Working in the family mortuary hadn't been her dream, but when a one-night stand left her pregnant, her dreams of becoming a basketball star vanished.

But she wouldn't trade her son Jon-Luc for the world. So she did the bookkeeping for the Peaceful Rest Funeral Parlor, and painted customized caskets, especially for those who told her sister, Bella, their last wish on the embalming table.

Yes, the first daughter of the first daughter in the Soublet family inheriting the powers to grant the last wish of the deceased. Reese was so glad she didn't inherit that task. But three months ago they were having a hard time with a last wish and the spirits showed up to give Reese little clues that led them to the item they had been searching for.

Only now they were determined to play matchmaker since their latest deceased was the most hated woman in this Louisiana parish and her nephew was returning home for the services. Her famous country singer nephew.

The man who didn't know he was a father.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is the first time I have read anything by this author duo, but they are now on my one-click list.

This is a contemporary paranormal romance that will keep you laughing at the antics of Cecile, Lissette, Monique and Antoinette. These spirits aren't just ghostly women, they can grab her paintbrush and to touchups on her painted caskets and make gifts appear at will.

Chase Callahan was not happy to find out that Reese had kept their son secret from him for three years. And Reese was determined to keep their son out of the spotlight of a famous singer.

This book is action-packed from cover to cover. You will laugh at the spirits antics and fall in love with Jon-Luc and the rest of Reese's family. There is tons of angst, especially since Chase is determined to leave the bayou behind and Reese and his mother are just determined to stay.

Highly recommend! Can't wait for Bella's story!
