Hold Me is book two of the Love the Way trilogy. These books have to be read in order and yes there are cliffhangers.
Book one begins in a courtroom where the judge will decide on Eleanor's care. Whether she will stay in the mental facility that she has been in after trying to commit suicide or into the care of the men of The Firm.
This is an unusual case that will open the door to more like it in the future. It is not only an important ruling for the care of Ella but the reputation of The Firm. Up until this point they had only been a high-end security firm - protecting the rich and famous.
But now they are not only assuming her protection but her total care as she is transferred from the mental facility to The Firm's care. But she's not being protected from someone else. She is being protected from herself. It is their responsibility to get her transitioned back into public life.
But, Zander does the unspeakable. He crossed the line with not only a client but one who is still mentally unstable after the death of her husband. We end book one with Zander being taken off the case and put on leave. His brother who owns the company not only is upset with his brother putting The Firm in danger but the well-being of their client.
I love this series. Our heroine, Ella, is trying to find a new normal and rejoin society and her very public life on social media after trying to kill herself. In this book, we learn that her husband was killed stepping away from a curb to cross the street. But, that's not what caused her breakdown.
Ella has been in the public eye ever since the very public trial for her mother's murdering her dad's first wife. As soon as the press got the first photo of her sad seven-year-old face they wanted more and more of her. So she gave it to them. Her life front and center in front of the world. Her first kiss. The first time she had sex. In all her naked glory she shared EVERYTHING with the world.
So when her husband dies in front of her leaving her to talk to the paparazzi which, of course, means everything was caught on camera. Her screams and being held back. His being killed right before her eyes.
It went viral. She couldn't get away. She kept being tagged and no matter how much she begged it wouldn't stop until she couldn't take it anymore.
Zander didn't read the file that was given to him on Ella. He liked his client to have a voice in telling their story. But, the only thing the file would have told him that he didn't know was that her husband had died. Ella had made a comment which made him think that even the file didn't hold the truth as her conservator Kam had left out pertinent information and that Ella was aware and approved of what had been provided.
What he did learn researching her online was that she and her husband were in a D/s relationship and he knew that his brother wouldn't approve of his methods, but he knew being her Dom was the only way to break through and get through to her.
This series is very emotional as Ella tries to dig herself out of her grief and start her life over. But the secrets she and Kam are holding are a roadblock to her recovery. None of her friends or the public know the real reason she has been out of the public light and the two that do may love her, but their idea to get her to jump back into her previous partying life is not what she needs.
The sexual chemistry between Zander and Ella is smoking hot and Ella is finding out that what she and her husband had was not a true Dom/submissive relationship. This book ends with both Zander and Ella spiraling out of control. Both of them dealing with their own private monsters.
This book leaves you with a cliffhanger. I knew this was a series and that would be happening, but I just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the final book.
