REVIEW - KISS ME by W Winters & Amelia Wilde

Kiss Me is book one of the Love the Way trilogy.  These books have to be read in order!

Her mother always told her that if you couldn't stop thinking about someone the same could be said about the other person, but her mother had stalked a man and killed his wife because she was in love with him.

She was seven years old when her father found out the truth.  From the moment the cameras caught the sadness on her young face the press had followed her.

Her first kiss.  The first time she had sex.  She shared everything with the public that they wanted to know to make her own happily ever after.  Until her happily ever after was ripped from her and her fans wouldn't leave her alone.

Zander Thompson worked for The Firm.  A high-end protection service owned by his older brother Cade.  At least that's how it started out and he wasn't happy about the direction The Firm is taking.  Now he is late for the court proceedings something he hates.  And he refuses the think about the phone call that caused him to be late.

Eleanor Bordeu is sitting in front with their lawyers and a representative from the mental institution she has been in for over a year.  This hearing will be setting a precedent for future cases.

They are not only assumed her protection but her total care as she is transferred from the mental facility to The Firm's care.  But she's not being protected from someone else.  She is being protected from herself.  It is their responsibility to get her transitioned back into public life.

From the moment he enters the courtroom Zander can't take his eyes off Ella.  It's more than her being strikingly beautiful.  Every time her dark eyes meet his it reaches his soul.

Although her file has been given to all the members of The Firm, he hasn't read the details.  He doesn't know anything about her past or why she needs watching over.  He prefers it that way.  Watching her expressions and her body language to see how she is reacting to everything.

He doesn't open her file, but he does open his computer and starts his search.  What he finds is unexpected and he knows it is crossing lines that should never be crossed, but he knows how to get through to her and help her heal.

Ella is struck by Zander's emerald eyes as soon as she saw him.  He is a large intimidating man, but she trusts him.  And for the first time in her life, she doesn't want to be judged by her decisions and asks him not to read her file.

Then he tells her what he found online and tells her how he can help her.  She agrees...

I love this book!  It is very well written and the characters are fully developed.  I really felt like I was part of the story as the emotions and pain come through the pages.  Ella is under 24-hour watch and care to make sure that she doesn't harm herself.  Although there are hints we don't find out what drove her to harm herself.

This book is emotional from page one.  Ella is fighting demons and trying her best to deal with her pain.  Her friend and conservator, Kam, is trying to ease her back into social media but wants to be her mediator.  He has taken away any means of her getting into her accounts so she doesn't see any comments that will take her spiraling again.

Zander has his own demons to deal with, but they are based on what-ifs guilt.  When his brother compares his demons with Ella he is livid because he knows that this time his feelings are where they need to be.

This book is centered around a very serious issue of suicide.  Zander's way of approaching Ella is very unorthodox, but after consulting with his own psychiatrist he feels it is the way to get Ella through her pain.  Based on what she posted online on social media and the videos she shared on porn sites he got a feel for who she was before being committed.  She had been in a D/s relationship which was right up his alley.
