It was a rare chance for Abby to dress up and she was getting pounded by the wind and icy rain. As a lawyer, her normal attire was plain suits in masculine colors that hid her shape and black robes when sitting on the bench. Anything to hide her curvaceous body so she would be taken seriously in this very masculine world. She even hid behind ugly glasses that she didn't need.
She finally makes it into the church as the bell tolls for the wedding she was attending without skidding on the ice and face planting on the brick walkway. When she looks up at the face of the man inquiring 'bride or groom' she is glad she's finally on solid ground. For the last fifteen years this was the face of all her fantasies and dreams.
The one woman in the world who could ruin Glen's day more than his rotten ex-wife had just entered the church. How did she know his best friend or the bride? She had been witness to his humiliation in court the day the judge castrated him and took away his dreams after his ex-wife had lied and accused him of being a monster so she could get custody of their two children.
He didn't even know her name but he wanted to make her look him in the face and see the true man and not the monster his ex-wife claimed before the court. And he hated himself for caring what she thought.
I absolutely loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are full of depth and relatable. This book grabbed me from page one and I didn't put it down until turning the last page. I love Abby and Glen. If had been fifteen years and although they had never spoken that moment in time was remembered by them both. Then they meet at Glen's best friend's wedding and even though their chemistry is electric they both leave with a bad taste in their mouth.
This book is action-packed from the beginning. Everyone in this book is loveable. From Glen's teenagers to their extensive family and friends. This book has a few twists and surprises, but luckily Glen's stubbornness and feelings of betrayal doesn't keep them from their HEA.
This is my first time reading Amber Cross, but it won't be the last. Her writing brought these characters to life for me and I felt that I was in the group as the snow mobiled through the moonlight. Highly recommend!
