REVIEW - SPARKLES OF THE SEASON by Susan Jean Ricci

It's New Year's and Sonia is at the annual Chamber of Commerce Ball and is to be honored for her photography during the city's magical Christmas event taking photos of the children making their wishes to Santa.  But she has plans other than just accepting her award and hopes it doesn't blow up in her face.

This is a sweet novella about grief, new beginnings and letting go.  Sonia had watched her husband as his kidney disease ravished his body, but through her pain had found a career that helped her cope with her loss.

During a freak accident during a pre-season game, a linebacker landed on Lars's ankle ruining his chances of playing that season.  If that wasn't bad enough his wife had waited until he arrived for training to have him served divorce papers...publicly...on the field in front of fans.

This story begins and ends where she is called onto the stage to accept her award at the Chamber of Commerce Ball and then jumps into the past and switches back and forth between Sonia and Lar's lives before their meeting and then from that point to the Ball.

It is a sweet romance with hints of romance, but besides kisses, we don't see any further into their private sexy times.  There was only one instance that I thought Sonia had a complete personality change, but otherwise, I totally enjoyed their story.  It is very well written and the characters are totally relatable.

If you are looking for a short warm your heart romance about new beginnings, you can't go wrong with this story.
