REVIEW - TWISTED BAD BOYS Anthology

JACK OF HEARTS by Rogue London

Jack was thrilled when he saw that the two million dollars for the golden hen he had swiped from the August brother's collection had been deposited into his account. He didn't feel a smidgen of guilt as they were the biggest crooks of all having gained their fortunes from the misfortunes of the towns folk.

He was surprised to see the difference since his last visit. There were no longer any smiling faces. Prices had skyrocketed and the food bank line was going around the block. He should feel guilty for accepting the money, but the memory of his life before he left this town had hardened his heart. He didn't owe this town anything.

He was sitting at the bar sipping his beer when he felt the hairs on his neck rise up warning him that there was magic nearby. Since his return from fairy tale land as a child he had been able to feel when magic was nearby.

As he glances around his eyes meet the beautiful woman who is singing on stage. Her haunting voice brings up memories of the music coming from a harp in the giant's castle from his childhood.

I loved this story! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is a modern naughty retelling of Jack & the Beanstalk. Jack was surprised to see the beautiful Harper again when he broke into the penthouse and had no intention of seeing her again until he saw her sneaking out late at night.

This book is full of action and danger as Jack returns to the magic of fairytale land to rescue Harp. Rogue London has put a wonderful spin on a classic fairytale. As with all of Rogue's books expect some spankings as Harp proves she loves being a brat.

ENTANGLED BY HER by Ann Jensen

Elle didn't know why she thought anything would be different from the rest of her life but she had been excited when her mother told her she was throwing her a party for her twenty-first birthday. She had been a prisoner in her home for her whole life and besides her only friend Jasmine, she didn't know anyone in attendance.

The ballroom was gorgeous but couldn't hide that the building had once been a church. Besides her best and only friend Jasmine, her mother, known to the underworld as the Witch, had only invited those she wished to lord over. As soon as her mother acknowledged that she could leave her presence she and Jasmine found a corner where they could have some modicum of privacy.

Ryder was part of a secret organization and was hired to kill the Witch and find her kidnap victims. He was able to gain entry to the gala under the pretense of being the nephew of one of her associates but was shocked to find out that she had been able to hide the existence of a daughter.

I loved this story! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is a modern retelling of Rapunzel. Elle has never been outside of the house she grew up in and was held prisoner on the fifth floor except for the visits from Jasmine who had no idea of Elle's true circumstances. When Ryder and his partner broke into the mansion the last thing he expected was to find Elle being held in an attic prison. He was determined to free her even if it meant aborting their original mission.

This book is action-packed and full of danger in this modern retelling of the fairytale story of Rapunzel. The Brothers Grimm would be impressed with the vileness of Elle's mother. Highly recommend.
