REVIEW - HUNTERLAND by Dana Claire

Olivia is standing in shock next to her best friend Jessica gaping at the ceiling of the school where their athletic advisor is hanging from a rope. But the horror isn't from seeing his dead body but because this is the third hanging at their school. The first had been considered a suicide and the second was still under investigation. It seems obvious now that they were also murdered.

But why? And how many more were going to die before the murderer was stopped? Hopefully the town sheriff, her dad, would be able to find the clues he needed before someone else died.

Liam stepped out of the Bronco with his father and sister at the scene of another school hanging. They had been following the case for almost a year now... five schools with at least one nurse killed at each.

Their device confirmed that supernatural activity was involved, but they didn't know what was different about Falkville Falls High School. Only one of the deaths was a nurse and the others didn't seem to be related. He only hoped that the small-town sheriff wouldn't get in the way of their investigation. His family were monster hunters and this sheriff looked way too competent to not question their methods.

I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Unlike the Olympian Wars series, this is a contemporary paranormal story where the Hunters destroy vampires, ghosts, shifters and other monstrous creatures.

Olivia doesn't understand how she can both hate but also want Liam near her. Not only does she think that his whole family is missing a few screws he is an egotistical jerk. Liam needs to focus of why they are in this small town - to find and kill the murderous monster, not fall for a girl that he will be leaving behind as soon as they stop the killer.

This book is action-packed, full of danger and intrigue. This book does leave you with a cliffhanger and the series is intended to be read in order as the underlying storyline continues to the next book. The high school murders' case takes a twist that leads in an emotional direction, but the real twist is the direction that the story takes at the end.

I look forward to seeing Olivia and Liam get their HEA and the fight that will hit the Hunter family at its core. Highly recommend!
