REVIEW - MAKING THE KING by B Lybaek & Sarah JD

Cara is standing before the priest saying her wedding vows... while her father holds a gun to her head. Her twin brother holding a gun to the priest's head... She is sixteen years old and her parents sold her to the man before her. Unlike her sister who had been sold to an older man, the man who purchased her was at least gorgeous and a few years older than her.

He might have been the perfect husband... if he hadn't bought her on the black market.

Three years later Rocco is standing outside the prison gates waiting for his wife to be released into his care. She was arrested at their travesty of a wedding three years ago when she shot and killed her monster father and had no idea the real reason for their marriage.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable! This is the prequel to The Cruz Kings MC series and prepare for a ride.

This book is action-packed and full of danger from page one. Cara's family is twisted and amoral selling her older sister into prostitution at the age of twelve before selling her to an abusive husband. Realizing their mistakes with her sister they ensured that Cara was untouched so they could get the highest bid.

This dark romance deals with human trafficking and physical and sexual abuse so beware if that is a trigger for you. I love these characters. These authors dig deep and pull out all the feels - the abuses that Cara and Rocco lived through will break your heart, but their angsty relationship will have you laughing. Can't wait to read the other stories in this series and see what Cain comes up with next.

Highly recommend!
