Synopsis:
Nicco and Destiny strike a business deal to help each other. When sparks fly, they end up getting a little more than they bargained for.
This love story has a happily ever after, but not before both the hero and heroine go through their own journeys of growth as well as their growth together as a couple.
I’m currently working on a spinoff book, Kiss Away Your Pain, because so many people loved one of the secondary characters in this book.
What is the sub-genre and trope? Did your characters lead you to this genre or
was that decided before the story began?
This is a contemporary romance, friends to lovers, soul mates, celebrity hero, slow burn romance.
My characters tend to fall easily into these categories. They’re always the ones who decide. 😉
Are you more character or plot driven?
Character driven.
With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
I have a Pinterest board for every book.
I also keep a character bible to help me keep the details straight.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?
It’s funny because I feel like I’m a bystander.
They’re talking and taking action in my head and I’m just the person documenting everything. It’s a bit of a strange profession in that way.
Are any of the male POVs based on anyone you know?
No one I know personally, but my hero is based on a real person, Michele Morrone.
Are any of the female POVs based on anyone you know?
My heroine is a romance author so there are definitely bits and pieces of myself in her.
Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
Writing the character of Gigi was challenging because I don’t care for her as a person.
She’s not someone I’d be friends with in real life. However, she’s necessary for the story.
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
Nicco is my favorite. I love how he grows as a person. I love his willingness to be vulnerable even as a hot, virile man.
How do you get inside these character’s heads to find their perfect HEA?
Interestingly, they’re the ones inside my head.
They create their own HEA. Sometimes I end up crying happy tears when it comes out of me.
What scene in this book sticks out the most for you? Why?
There’s a hot tub scene where Nicco opens himself in such vulnerability that he just takes my heart and it breaks.
How long did it take you to write this book?
Well, this is interesting.
I got very off track with some things and wrote the bulk of it in two weeks. I’ll never do that again.
I had to rearrange things and ended up taking another six-eight weeks to actually finish it.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
It’s a line in the book.
If you met these characters in real life would you get along?
Absolutely!
If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?
All of my books are like movies in my head and someday, I’ll be pursuing that.
Michele Morrone is obviously Niccolo Mancini.
Emma Watson might make a good Destiny Cardone.
Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?
So many people who read Someone Exactly Like Me loved the character of Candi, so I’m writing her story in Kiss Away Your Pain.
"As they seal their love with a kiss, I can’t ignore the ache throbbing deep in the cavern of my soul at the loss of my once-in-a-lifetime love."
