Zadi is a misfit monster and is part zombie, part fairy and a little bit of robot. All the monsters in her community are misfits as they don't fit into any particular community. They were no larger than a bilby and some as small as a Blue Wren.
As Zadi closed her recycled lid door to her home, the slight click made her worry it might have been heard so she looked around quickly and decided to investigate and make sure she was alone. When you were this small you couldn't be too careful when living in a world where everything was much larger than you.
She didn't want anyone noticing her leaving so early in the morning. She wanted to arrive at the hunting grounds much earlier than anyone else. Not only was she breaking the rules of only hunting together, they could only hunt on certain days. She was hoping that her invention to pick the lock worked since the lock wasn't scheduled to be opened for another three hours.
I loved this book! This is definitely a break from my normal down and dirty romance reads as this series is geared toward children in middle school, but it was just the refreshing break I needed.
Lily Rose has created a very small (as in the birds can eat you small) community of misfits that despite their differences stick together as a community for safety. But, living around each other doesn't make them a community and Zadi has some ideas to change that and bring everyone together.
Not only is this a cute story of imaginary creatures, Lily Rose has a life lesson interwoven into this story of helping each other out.
