Soph is determined to get revenge and she sees her opportunity when he heads for the restroom. Her shift at the combo coffee house/bar Warm'N'Cool had just ended and he was going to be sorry that he handed over his keys.
She had listened to Jackson Bennett all night as he complained about women and it is karma that his bike will soon be missing. She grabs his keys from behind the bar, heads outside and finds his precious Isla. According to Jax his 2016 Harley Davidson Softail Breakout was the only woman who he could depend on.
She is enjoying the ride when the light turns red suddenly, causing the car behind her to hit the motorcycle. She pushes herself away as the motorcycle tumbles over, waiting for impact and wondering if this is how her life will end.
Jax is meeting his Uncle Joey and his cousins King, Angel and Big O for dinner at a steakhouse while they were in town. He had moved from Nebraska to New York two years ago to manage his cousin Ethan 'King" Kingston's tattoo shop in Brooklyn. There were twelve King Tattoo shops throughout the country. With everyone being spread from LA, Chicago, Denver and Nebraska it was nice whenever they could connect.
While waiting for his uncle to get off the phone so he can greet him, Jax checks his messages. His girlfriend of ten months was not happy that he was spending time with his family and he was surprised she wasn't blowing his phone up. He gets home to find her packing his stuff telling him to get out. Since it was his loft he called her brother to come get her.
Jax needs a drink after having to deal with Tiffany. The bat-crazy woman had destroyed the only thing he treasured besides his motorcycle. Of all the guitars she could have grabbed she takes the one that his uncle had given to him and shatters it on the floor. He calls his best friend Eli's girlfriend to find out the name of the bar she likes because he doesn't want to be anywhere that reminds him of Tiffany.
The bar is unlike any he has ever been in. A mixture of a coffee house and a bar with a stage for entertainment. When he hears the voice of an angel he grabs a comfortable chair and realizes that he knows her.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is the first time that I have read anything by KH Anastasia and I am hooked. Between family, friends and co-workers on both sides there are tons of secondary characters, but instead of overwhelming you they pull you into the story.
Soph has put her dreams aside to help support her parents since her father was diagnosed with MS ten years before. Jax wouldn't have survived his childhood without the support of his uncle and cousins. This book puts the angst into angst. Jax is livid that Soph wrecked his motorcycle and doesn't understand why she would do it.
This book is action-packed from word one and will keep you turning the pages. It is smoking hot and Jax has an unexpected kink. I laughed and boy did I cry! There are several heartwrenching moments in this story.
I am definitely going to add Eli & Rose's story (book one) on my TBR list and can't wait to see what happens next in this series! Highly recommend!
