REVIEW - DOCTOR KNOW by Mel Walker

Dr. Cynthia Haywood is surrounded by medical journals when there is a knock on her door reminding her of the awards dinner. She is the Assistant Chair of the Baltimore Medical Center's Neurology Department and she has been looking forward to this night.

She is sitting in shock as her boss accepts the Neurology Award...not inviting anyone on stage and taking all the credit. Credit for her hard work. As she is trying to work through her feelings of disappointment she gets a call from her sister which she mutes. When she receives another call she excuses herself to take the call.

Only the call isn't from her sister Sherry. It is a stranger telling her that her sister has been in an accident and she now finds herself the guardian of her sister's eight-year-old adopted daughter Augusta.

I loved this book!  It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Another heartwarming story from Mel Walker!

Cynthia is totally out of her comfort zone. Her life motto is ABL (always be learning)...not only is she a woman, but she is a black woman who has worked hard to be at the top of her field. Now she has taken a temporary position in a small town hospital and is totally clueless on how to raise a child.

Her intention is to get her sister's estate settled and get back to her job in Baltimore, but the more time she spends in Rhode Island the more she wonders if leaving is the best thing for Augusta. And Simon Baxter the sexy laid-back neighbor next door isn't making her decision any easier for this workaholic doctor.

I love all of Mel Walker's sweet small-town romances, but this has to be the best so far. I cried...sooo much...over Joshua.  This book is action-packed and will tug at your heart.  Highly recommend!
