REVIEW - ONCE WE WERE by Keighley Bradford

Bea opened the front door to her brother's home greeted with a huge hug from her sister-in-law Deanne. It was an annual James's obligatory Christmas Eve event and Deanne was surprised that her best friend Alex wasn't attached to her hip.

Her brother Wes was still upset with her that she ran off to Europe with her best friend Alex with no notice. When asked Bea told her that they wouldn't be seeing Alex as much in the future. When he had shown up at her door, devastation written all over him she thought nothing about dropping everything and immediately hopping on a flight to Paris with him.

But the week of fun with her best friend left her heartbroken. The one thing that made them work was that they were always honest with each other. But, he had lied to her and that, she couldn't forgive.

But wasn't withholding information from him also a lie? Would their friendship survive?

I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable.

No one understood how scandalously close Bea and Alex's friendship was and they never responded to the rumors they heard in the background - confirming or denying.

Not the ending I wanted but, Keighly Bradford writes an amazing story about doing everything in your power to make sure the one that you love is happy. The sacrifices you make to make sure the one you love finds happiness. Highly recommend.
