REVIEW - MY GRUMPY FAKE BOYFRIEND by Kelly Thomas

Trent heads to the Shot in the Dark pub to burn off some steam. His nemesis is up to his old tricks and Trent needs to figure out how to handle this last crap he pulled.

Stephen and he were up for the same partner position at the law firm he just convinced the partners to have a couple's retreat for the attorneys being considered for promotion. Knowing that Trent was very single since he broke up with his girlfriend last month.

All through college he was considered a dumb jock just because he had been a football player. He wanted the respect that being a partner would bring... along with the heftier paycheck. It wasn't enough that they had been partnered defending a client who was accused of money laundering now he had to attend a retreat without a plus one.

When he explains to the bartender his problem she tells him that he needs to pay someone to be his 'fake' girlfriend and then suggests his friend Hunter's assistant Paige. When Hunter gets there he agrees that she would be perfect.

He looks at them in shock. Perfect? As many times as he's been by Hunter's office, he barely remembers anything about Paige except she wears big oversized sweaters and weird glasses. She was a plain-looking nerd. Why would they think anyone would believe she was his girlfriend?

I really liked this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Trent needs a fake girlfriend for to an office retreat. Paige wears oversized clothes, pulls her hair back in a tight bun and wears huge glasses to keep from being ogled by men who rather talk to her chest.

This is an enemy to lovers, fake girlfriend, romantic suspense that will keep you turning the pages. This book has a surprisingly dangerous twist. The retreat location was especially nice since I live in the Smoky Mountains.

MY GRUMPY FAKE BOYFRIEND is book one of the ILLEGAL AFFAIRS Series
