REVIEW - RUTHLESS HAWKE by Gwyn McNamee

One night hadn't been enough and after 36 hours he was determined to get her real name to figure out how he to see her again. Law school is over and it's time to return to New Orleans and his family obligations.

But he woke up alone with just a note on her pillow. Throwing on his pants and trying to randomly button his shirt he runs barefoot out the hotel doors trying to find her. He sees her entering an SUV and despite him running barefoot down the streets of Chicago yelling for her to stop the SUV speeds away. Shattering his heart.

Five years later Isaac is the last place he wants to be. Another injunction hearing. The only thing taking the edge off is the judge's clerk getting him off before taking his place at the counsel's table where he hopes to put a stop to Falco Enterprises and their campaign against the Hawkes.

After the hearing, his phone vibrates with a text telling him 'to get to the office ASAP. Family emergency.'

New Orleans is a gorgeous city, but Mina is not there by choice. Her father dragged her out of bed and told her to pack a bag with no explanation as to why or where they were going at this insane hour as they leave Chicago. Now she is gazing out of the window of the SUV with a feeling of foreboding.

Her father pulls up to the building of Hawke Law. Maybe now she can get some answers. But as soon as they enter the office and she sees the two men the sick feeling comes over her again. Even as she is being introduced to her father's friend Gabe, she can't take her eyes off the man sitting behind the desk. Those eyes... this man is obviously related to the man she hasn't forgotten even after five years.

When the door behind her opens, she knows before she turns around and hears his shocked voice 'Jack?'. She knows she finally found 'Nolan'. But her being in New Orleans in his family's law firm isn't the biggest shock. She isn't the only one her father wants the Hawkes to protect.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable! This series is intended to be read in order so if you haven't read the prequel, Night Hawke, you are missing background that gives you the depth of feeling in this story. This series is also a spin-off of two separate series in which both Isaac's and Mina's parents have their own stories. I definitely intend to catch up as you we meet most of the extensive Hawke family in this story.

This book is action-packed, full of danger and suspense, and will set your Kindle on fire it is so smoking hot! Mina has not only felt prisoner to her family because of who they are but she has a health issue that makes them even more controlling and protective. Isaac is determined that once the threat to Mina's family is over to not let her return to Chicago.

In the foreward of this story, you will find a Hawke family tree... you will need it. I can't wait to catch up on family history and to see what is in store for this second generation! Highly recommend!
