What is the sub-genre and trope? Did your characters lead you to this genre or
was that decided before the story began?
The genre for these books is MC.
I first introduced Marek in a previous book I wrote titled Torn. When I wrote the scene containing his character, it was then I had the thought to expand on this character, to give him his own book.
I had no idea that one idea would’ve morphed into ten books and counting. There are 5 books in the original series, 4 in the next generation series and there will be 4 books in the spinoff series (different charter for the MC).
Are you more character or plot driven?
If I have to choose, I’d say I was more plot driven but that doesn’t mean I don’t focus on character development.
With many main and secondary characters, how do you keep them separated in your mind? Do you have a story/vision board above your workspace?
There are A LOT of characters in this series, so I made a spreadsheet with all their details.
Some of them I know by heart but occasionally I have to check the sheet or go back to previous books (when writing new ones) to make sure I don’t say anything out of turn.
I know from previous interviews that characters take on a life of their own. Were any of the characters in this series determined to take their own direction instead of where you initially wanted them to go?
These characters were stubborn and wanted their story told in a specific way. I can say I was surprised quite a few times.
Are any of the male POVs based on anyone you know?
No. But that would be really interesting if they were. These guys were something else. 😊
Are any of the female POVs based on anyone you know?
Also no.
Was there any one character/scene that was harder to write about than the other?
The scenes I had to write for some of the female characters were hard, especially for Sully (female lead in Marek). My heart broke for her often, but she was a fighter.
What is your favorite book in the series?
My favorite book has to be Marek because he started off the entire series, setting the stage for all the characters as well as the club drama, which is action-packed.
I know that we aren’t supposed to have “favorites” as far as our children, but seriously, who’s your favorite character and why?
It’s a tie between Marek and Stone but if you’re forcing me to choose… I’ll have to go with Marek. 😊
He is a complicated character and doesn’t always say the right things, especially to his love interest. But he is a good man and a great leader.
I really put this character through the wringer in this series, but he came out the other side intact. Well… mostly. Haha.
Series question - Who is your favorite couple and why did you decide on their dynamics?
I adore the varying dynamics between all the couples, but Stone and Addy’s relationship is my favorite.
All the female leads are strong in their own right, but Addy is in a league all her own. She never lets Stone get away with some of the stuff he tries to pull.
How do you get inside these characters’ heads to find their perfect HEA?
I’ll be honest. It’s not easy. None of their relationships are easy. There are also obstacles for them to tackle and sometimes they falter. But their love is what binds them to each other.
And just like in life, they have to work at it in order to get their HEA.
What scene in this book/series sticks out the most for you? Why?
The scene that sticks out the most to me is when they finally get their hands on the leader of the enemy club.
Without giving anything away, there is something that is said to Marek that pushes him over the edge and for awhile I didn’t know if he’d ever come back.
Series - Were any of the books harder to write than others?
Not necessarily harder to write, but the challenge to wrap up the club drama in the last book was difficult because I didn’t want it to fall short.
Which thankfully, it didn’t.
This question is if you write in MULTIPLE POVs not just the hero and heroine - I love the multiple POVs in a book. It’s not just the hero and heroine, but we get inside the heads of multiple characters throughout this series. I feel that it gives the story further depth. Do you think you will write another book or series following this multiple POV outline?
Each of the books in this series is written in dual POV, but in the last book, Ryder, I wrote from everyone’s POV in the Epilogue.
I recapped their voice as well as where they were at the end of the series.
How long did it take you to write this book/series?
Close to a year and a half
How did you come up with the title for your book and series?
I wanted each title in this series to be the name of the main character and the series is the club’s name.
If you met these characters in real life would you get along?
Yes. Some of them might not always say the right thing and I might want to smack them from time to time, but they are good men, and they love their women fiercely. And their loyalty to each other is admirable.
Series question – Did you know in advance that you were going to write this as a series or did one of the characters in book one demand their own story?
I planned on writing the series and if I can recall that far back, I believe I only intended on writing 4 books, but Ryder’s story started to develop in Jagger (3rd book), so I added him to the roster. 😊
If your book/series were made into a movie, which actors do you see as playing your characters?
I’ll have to think on this one because no one sticks out to me right now.
Can you give us a hint as to what we can expect next? Whether a new book and series or a sequel to an existing series? Can you share a small tease?
After the initial series (first 5 books), I wrote a second-generation series that had 4 books in it. I planned on ending the series there but one of the characters wanted his story told. So, I wrote Tag, which is the first book in a series of 4 books, that will take place in a different charter for the club. Tag released in September 2022 and the 2nd book in this series will release around January 2023.
