AUDIOBOOK REVIEW - HAN: HER RUTHLESS MISTAKE by Theodora Taylor

Jazz was so excited that she was finally able to purchase her old coach's surf school and camp.  It had taken her two years and today was the day her dream was going to come true!

But, when she arrives home her dreams come to a skidding halt.  Her father is on the floor bruised and battered.  Instead of using the money her sister gave him to pay bills he had gambled it away...and lost.

Han is at the strip club meeting with the son of the 24K Dragons.  When joining his brother in the Silent Triad, he had made it clear that he would traffic anything that didn't breathe but agreed to take out the names on the list of a sex trafficking case against the 24K Dragons.

After Kwan Jr. (as he calls him in his head) finally agrees to turn over office space for Han and he offers Han any woman in the club as a thank you for his help.  Except Han doesn't do prostitutes.  A fact that is well known.  As he is trying to come up with a reason for turning down the offer, he is distracted by a woman's voice demanding to see K Diamond.

Jazz enters the strip joint to see two opposing gangs facing off and when she determines the man who threatened her dad, she approaches to pay off his six-figure debt.  Her hopes and dreams were being handed over to a criminal.  But, then she stands there in shock when he tells her that she still owes interest.  Five percent per day for every day past due.  There is no way she can pay that amount.  It well exceeds what she is already paying since the game her father lost was over two months ago.

When K Diamond tells her he will allow her to pay off the interest by her dancing and later serving favors in their Champagne Room she looks at him in disgust trying to figure a way out.  The head of the other group speaks to K Diamond in another language and then looks at her and tells her he has taken care of her debt and belongs to him now.

When she refuses to follow him, he throws her over his shoulder and heads for the mentioned Champagne Room where he expects her to perform.  As she is trying to figure out how to escape this situation, he whispers in her ear that she needs to make a believable performance for the cameras to show that Han has claimed her or K Diamond would make her work in his club.

I loved this book and Clementine Dove & Rex Yune brought these characters and their story to life.  It is action-packed and full of danger from page one.  Jazz is a professional surfer and her dream is to teach surfing in her home state of Hawaii.  When Han tells her that she has to be at his beck and call for two years to pay back her debt to him she is outraged and does everything she can to avoid him.

Being the bastard child of a cruel Triad leader and his mother deserting him as a young child, he had no interest in a relationship, but the more time he spent with Jazz the more he wanted to chain her to his side.

This book is full of danger and unexpected twists.  Jazz and Han's relationship is scorching hot and hearing their story through the voices of these narrators made it even hotter.  Clementine Dove & Rex Yune were an excellent pairing for this audiobook and I highly recommend listening to them!
