REVIEW - A LAIR SO LOYAL by Zoey Ellis

Oshali is watching her two best friends leave her behind.  They have been friends since babies when they were taken in by the Mehyu Guardians.  Silette was finally going in search of her family and Joren is going with her.  Oshali knew that they were perfect together, but it still didn't make her feel any better since not only had she become the 3rd wheel in their friendship, but now she is again being abandoned just as she was as a baby.

The Mehya Guardians were the keepers and recorders of history and orphans were left in their care to train for a future to either join the guardians or make their own way after they turned twenty-five.  But those who left were not allowed to return so it was a heavy decision to make.  Oshali knew what her decision would be.  She wanted to explore.  It didn't matter that the lower-mortals had been in war for decades and the lands were ravaged by damaging magic as the King of the North and the Queen of the South fought to take over the other's territory.

She is in her quarters crying over the loss of her friends when she is told that the dragorai was there to see her.  When she indicated she wasn't available the woman told her that there was no way she was delivering the message to the angry man waiting for her presence.  She had been avoiding him for the last month and so she wiped her tears and made her way to their meeting spot.

The Dragorai-alphas were the most powerful and long lasting races blessed by the seven goddesses.  The Valtorros clan was the last of their kind in existence as the lower-mortals had waged war on them and killed all of the female dragons for their magic potions.

Every so often one of them would arrive for information from the guardians and since the age of eighteen Oshali has been meeting with Tyomar one of the five brothers of the Valtorros clan.  One of the reasons that she has decided to leave is because of Tyomar.  Because she has fallen in love with him and with the miracle of his brother Nyro finding his mate when all thought the dragorai females were dead made her realize that Tyomar would also find a mate and she would again be abandoned.

So Oshali has agreed to go on a mission for the Guardians and when she returns she will leave forever.

I love this series!  It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable.  This book is action packed from beginning and end and starts where book one leaves off.  Although these books could be read as standalone novels, I highly recommend that you read the books in order to get the full background of the characters and the storyline.  These characters are recurring and fully enveloped in each story.

Oshali is a genius.  She is the youngest guardian and has become knowledgeable about the dragorai history and their ancient language.  Her gift for casting spells beyond the norm and what she finds on her journey was a major twist in this story.

Tyomar is as alpha as you can get.  These men are violent and take no prisoners.  This book is full of intrigue and danger and smoking hot chemistry.  If you don't like dark romance this is probably not a series for you, but if you are you definitely need to read this series and one-click anything by Zoey Ellis!  She has made a fan for life.
