He really should be paying attention to what Donnie is saying about the safety features of his new motorcycle, but he can't stop watching her. She is sitting in a sales booth with Donnie's father and looks distressed at the news he is relaying to her. Evidently, she isn't liking the loan terms being presented.
Before he rides off on his custom Harley outfitted to accommodate his prothesis, he pays the full purchase price for the Chevy Volt that Stork is having a hard time buying. Stork...the name he gave her in high school because of her height and thin frame. She deserved the car after the way he had treated her in high school.
Sawyer hadn't set foot in his hometown for thirteen years and was only back to prepare for the political career his father wants for him. Stork's mother had ruined his father's chance of running for President. The Crazy Librarian as she is known throughout their small town. Not because she is a librarian, but because she gives out books saying she was told to deliver the book to them --- by the dead.
Willa is in shock. Sawyer Grant had just purchased a car for her. Her family is the only black family in the small town and they were reminded of that fact at every turn. Sawyer was the typical rich jock kid in high school...star running back, expensive car, cheerleaders hanging all over him. The whole school, administration included, worshipped him as he was charming to everyone except for her and her sister.
Willa had been lucky to receive a college scholarship and in her second year of med school was offered a fellowship in Germany at a regional hospital that served the armed forces. As she was shadowing a psychiatrist who specialized in amputees, Willa was trying to keep the shock from her face when she sees Sawyer in front of her in a state of frustration.
But, Sawyer isn't really standing in front of her. Sawyer was a Marine and had been injuring in Afghanistan. He is in a coma after his leg had been partially amputated and his ghost hasn't made the decision on whether to wake up or give up and die.
I loved this book! Clementine Dove did a wonderful job narrating this paranormal ghost romance. The book is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Sawyer regrets his actions in high school and refuses Willa's attempts to pay for the car he purchased telling her she can instead be his physical therapist since no-one had been able to help him in the six years since he lost his leg below the knee.
Despite Willa and Sawyer's undeniable chemistry, she is hiding a major secret from him and if he knew that she also spoke to ghosts he would be running as fast as he could in the other direction.
This story is action-packed from word one. This paranormal ghost romance is smoking hot and the twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. This isn't the first time I have listened to Clementine Dove and she brought the characters to life. Highly recommend!
