Katerina Kelly overslept and only has 30 minutes to shower, get dressed and get to work. She averages only three to four hours of sleep each night due to nightmares. Nightmares of past boyfriends. Like her subconscious wanted her to relive these relationships over and over reminding her to stay away from men.
Luckily, she only works 15 minutes away and is able to zip into the last available space. As she is gathering her belongings a car idles behind her. A gorgeous man with dark blonde hair is sneering at her and angrily calling her Mario Andretti stealing the space. He may be movie-worthy with his chiseled jawline with a sexy shadow, but he needs an attitude adjustment.
Kat is a Physician's Assistant in a busy ER and loves her job and these are her people. More than her parents or sister could ever be. From doctors, nurses, EMTs and firemen they have her back and she enjoys both spending time with them at work and after hours dancing. Except for the asshat doctor who is always dumping patients on her so he can go to lunch or go home. No working past his scheduled hours for him.
Nicholas Barnes is not having a good start at the new hospital. This is his first day after leaving the neighboring hospital getting tired of all the gossiping going around regarding his divorce three months ago. It was bad enough having his wife cheat on him he didn't need to be reminded of it all day at work. He's had enough of lying and cheating.
As he sits in a secluded alcove typing notes on his rounds he notices the woman who cut him off in the parking lot. She has coffee-colored hair and big brown eyes that seem to mesmerize the whole hospital. She seems to be some type of magnet as everyone seems to gravitate to her. Luckily, there aren't too many issues he has to deal with in ER being an orthopedic surgeon and he can avoid her.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
This book hit all the feels for me. These characters are so relatable. Kat's relationship with her co-workers is wonderful! She loves spending time with them and enjoys nights out at local bars dancing and despite Nick's observations, they all think of her as their little sister.
I cried along with her about her grandmother and felt both Kat and Nick's pain regarding their past relationships.
And I laughed so much with their misconceptions of each other. But the funniest was her reaction to her sleep medication! This book is a continuing series, but it is so so so worth it! The cliffhanger is probably the best one in history!!! Instead of a what happens now reaction I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!
Can't wait to see how Kat reacts to her realization. Highly recommend!!!
